
Adeoye Adefulu

Dr. Adeoye Adefulu is a recognised leader in Nigeria’s energy sector and the Managing Partner of Odujinrin & Adefulu. With over two decades of experience spanning petroleum law and policy, electricity regulation, and project finance, he is widely regarded for his thought leadership and strategic contributions to Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape. He earned his law degree from the University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar, before obtaining both his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), Scotland.
Dr. Adefulu has played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s energy policy, most notably as a key contributor to the development and eventual passage of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, having been involved with the legislation from its earliest drafts in 2009. He served on the National Assembly’s Technical Committee on Petroleum Industry Reforms (2015–2019) and continues to advise indigenous and international oil companies on regulatory compliance and the implementation of the PIA. His areas of focus include oil and gas regulatory reform, gas utilisation, energy transition, and environmental law. A sought-after speaker at energy conferences locally and internationally, he contributes actively to policy discourse and institutional development within the sector. He is a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBASBL) and currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Leadway Assurance.
Beyond his legal and policy work, Dr. Adefulu maintains a strong interest in the visual arts and is an active art enthusiast. He engages with the art community and brings an informed perspective to discussions on intellectual property and copyright, particularly as they relate to the protection of creative works and the sustainability of the creative economy.
