Mediation Training Program
Introduction
In a bid to build and improve capacity of mid- level professionals in the Alternative Disputes Resolutions system in the energy industry and to enable them handle complex disputes arising from within the organizations and transactions among clients, thereby saving relationships and legal fees, the Lawyers in Energy Network is organizing a Certified one week physical Mediation Skills Accreditation Training and six months online internship for Industry practitioners.
The physical part of the training which would be held from the 29th of July till the 2nd of August, 2024 at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos; would focus on teaching the ADR Spectrum; Conflict Analysis; Communications and Negotiations Skills; the Different Personality Types; Code of Conduct for Mediators and How to Market ADR Skills/Mediation Advocacy.
While the Six-Month Online Internship which would commence immediately after the physical class, would offer participants the opportunity to engage in live practical Mediation sessions to enhance their Mediation skills, and be mentored by Internationally accredited and Certified Mediation Experts.
At the end of this training, participants would be able to resolve complex internal and external disputes for the Energy Industry.

Subject Focus
- Essential skills for effective communication, expressing concerns, and understanding the needs of others.
- Techniques to manage personal conflicts and behaviour, along with strategies for interacting with individuals who respond differently.
- Methods to lead conversations or discussions, especially in situations where both parties may not be on the best terms with each other.
Training Methodology
Our training program employs a comprehensive approach that covers key aspects of mediation, including theories, case studies, and practical exercises. The training structure includes pre-course activities, theoretical discussions, role plays, interactive exercises, accreditation examinations, and post-course assignments to ensure a holistic and hands-on learning experience for participants.
Ultimately the training methodology will be adapted to meet industry specific needs.
