INTRODUCTION.
Energy sustainability in Africa is a critical issue that requires effective Policies, Regulations, and Funding mechanisms to address, as Africa faces several challenges in achieving Energy sufficiency.
To overcome these challenges, the development and implementation of appropriate policies and regulations are crucial. These policies should encompass various aspects such as promoting fossil fuels utilization, introducing renewable energy deployment, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring equitable access to energy resources.
Supportive regulations can create a conducive environment for investment, innovation, and market development in the Energy sector. This includes establishing clear frameworks for Renewable Energy Integration, setting Energy efficiency standards, and facilitating private sector participation.
However, policies and regulations alone are not sufficient as adequate funding mechanisms are also essential to mobilize the necessary financial resources for Energy sustainability initiatives. This involves leveraging domestic and international investments, exploring innovative financing models, and strengthening public-private partnerships.
In the upcoming Lawyers in Energy International Conference (L.E.I.C.A. 2024) our focus would be on providing practical means of promoting growth and sustainability of the Energy Industry in Africa by:
